Art on the beach.

Sometimes all I have to do is have my eyes open and my camera in hand, nature does the rest. Yet, some people just walk on by never looking or never stopping to smell the rose.
Today's photo is of a skate egg casing, it's about three inches long and made from the same material human finger nails are made of. The contrast between the speckled sand and the black body caught my eye.
Made with the Canon G10 and processed with ACR.

You have the coolest vision. I don't get out to the beach as often as I'd like - shame on me given I live within a 45-minute drive of two Great Lakes! - but when I do, I often find myself head-down, walking slowly along the shoreline. You always see something new.

Very cool. I'd never heard of that and very briefly thought I saw a mouse tail..

Oh my gosh, I can sense a good story to go along with this little devil of the sea! They can get to be 100lbs! Surely yours pictured was not that big right? Hard to believe that it can be a good source of food for humans being a bottom feeder...although I do enjoy catfish, but this little odd shaped fish is also related to stingrays! But are they harmful? What an interesting find anyway....very cool!
