A dog's life

Sleeping to the serenade of
scissors sniping and the occasional buzz
of the electric trimmer is an old Golden Retriever.
Welcome.
Welcome to a different, slow paced time.
One step up and a plate glass window separate
cell phones and the hustle from a Norman Rockwell view.
It's not always about the hair cut.
Sometimes it just the trip down memory lane.

No dogs

Will ya look at the face on that cat!
I took a walk around the village and this "watch cat" is a resident of the thrift store. She let me in,
but gave me a dirty look.
She must know I favor my dog.

Southampton Artists Association Show

The Southampton Artists Association annual Memorial Day show opening reception was yesterday. I'm a new member, joining this past January. All members in good standing were allowed to hang three pieces. I have an old hand printed black and white, Quality Time, Southampton Potato Barn, and The Porch as my entries. Jim Wightman's The Publicist, is the piece in-between.
Towards the end of the evening I notice a young critic making points about The Porch to her audience. I need to read the fine print to see if she's entitled  to a commission if she sells it!
The show runs till Sunday June 3rd. Hours are Sundays till Thursday 12 noon till 4, Fridays and Saturdays 12 noon till 6.
It's located at the

Southampton Cultural Center

The Shoemaker's child

While up on the north fork of Long Island I came across this old wagon for a nursery business. The hosta's were almost all overtaken with weeds, and it reminded me of the saying that the shoemaker's children alway need shoes. Love the wagon!

Have a seat, any seat!

Looks like an old movie, but it's the auditorium of a middle school here on Long Island. I was waiting around for a Girl Scout Award night to start and was in total awe of the age of this school.

A walk in the rainy woods.

Young oak leaves are so colorful.
After a day of rain, the woods are quiet
except for a drip every now and then.
The paths are muddy and full of puddles.
 It is very relaxing.

A Hidden Pond

A toned inferred photograph. This pond is across the street from the municipal buildings where I sometimes work. Except for the winter and early spring it is hidden from the fast paced life that takes place only yards away.
We went to see The Hunger Games monday night. I wanted to finish the book before I saw the movie. Both were excellent. The only thing I think the movie ruined is how Catniss Everdeen got her Mockingjay pin. It was more meaningful in the book and gave definition to another layer of class within her district. Still, I'd recommend both.

Spring in the Mountains

A mountainside view off US 91 exit 5.
Spring is as colorful as autumn,
even in the rain.
A peaceful, Happy and love filled day to all the
Moms, Grandmas, and great-grandmas.

In the garden

I was one of those people that purchased this plant, as a pack of seeds, when we first moved here. The yard was bare, the soil very sandy and little would grow... Except this of course! I have them popping up all over the place. They do look pretty.

A little trip

I flew up to Burlington Vermont where Adam meet me and we drove home. Traveling in the rain is no fun, but we did fine. I left on the 5:30AM train, caught a tram to JFK to meet a jetBlue 9:20 flight to Burlington. While waiting to board, I saw the sox's on the tail of a different flight. Come on guys, this is New York!
Well, Adam is home for the summer. He's waiting to hear about an internship or go back to the ice cream store.

Butterfly or moth

Yesterday must of been the day of the moth or butterfly, whatever this is. I googled brown and orange moth and butterfly and found something similar in both searches. Oh well, so much for finding out what this is. This one was on the Boxwood plant sunning. There were an abundant amount of them flying around the yard "playing tag."
Fine Art America is holding a contest for its photographers. Five winning photographs will be used in a national television advertisement. I need 250 votes, I have 31. I was hoping

Heart Shadow

We have a heart wreath
 hanging on our
side door.
The bright morning sun was
sending a message.

27) I am grateful  for those that have come before me. They have helped make a path for me.
I am grateful for those that have come after me. They  remind me of the importance of dreams.

A heart in the woods

I came across this branch
 that had hearts on it.
Spring, and love is everywhere.
