The Traveling Vietnam Wall

This weekend I had the opportunity to visit the Traveling Vietnam Wall. I've been to Washington and seen the Monument there.
The feelings at both are the same.

People touch the wall, make rubbings of names,
hang flags and lean photos there.

Taps

If you get the chance....
 see it.

Laurel NY

This is one one the most photographed barns on the north fork of Long Island. I was surprised when it didn't come up on google images for Laurel NY. One of my favorites was a black and white made in winter, everything was covered in snow.
I passed this place a zillion times and never wanted to make my own photo because of all of the others I saw. But when I saw the sky and the colors in the field, I knew I should make one of my own.

American Flag

Maybe it’s because of sign ordinances that a lot of retailers fly super large American Flags. It would probably look very unpatriotic for someone to pass a regulation on how big the American flag is that you fly.

I saw this flag flying high from a pole in the parking lot of a McDonald’s in Oakdale.
Photographed with the Canon 5d mkII and processed with ARC.

Pop Contradiction

I found this next to yesterday’s picture in Brookhaven. The American flag, the symbol of freedom on a chain link fence and the Antique store open seven days but all boarded up. Contradictions.
Heavy post production in Adobe Raw Converter to achieve the pop look.

Flag in your hat.

It was nice to have a three-day weekend. This is the first Memorial Day I had off in years. I did make some photos at the Memorial service in Southampton.
I would think some might find it disrespectful to use the flag as a hat decoration. Yet, there are always a few people dressed in American flag print clothing items. One flag tie, one flag shawl and a few flag shirts, I guess the more you see it the more it looks normal.
