Potato barn

This is the old Potato Barn here in Southampton. I got the idea to make a few photos of it before they tear it down to put up a shopping center.
The folks around here have made it known they don't want another shopping center. My wife and I hoped that Trader Joe's would buy the barn. We love Trader Joe's and have to travel to get to one.
Besides, we have a few different supermarkets between the two towns.
Idea! The barn is on the corner down the road from the Tuckahoe Elementary School. Tuckahoe is the Indian word for potato. Trader Joe's can buy it and package local potato chips...Tuckahoe Chips.

Too bad TJ's didn't buy it... Then again, they're all about the demographics... I buy 90% of my food there, the rest at our farmer's market. That photo looks like it came out of the dustbowl era. Very nice...

It is such an amazing style, that it should remain as it was built, and create something useful on the inside...some where to shop and dine, and perhaps an artist studio as well...it seems such a shame to take it down for yet another shopping center (aren't there way too many now?) But I'm sure the owner of this place wants the highest price possible. I recently stumbled upon an old church that someone made into their residence. Unbelievable what they did to it. They kept the old church but made a few changes and added on too. Good luck with this, and getting Trader Joes closer to you!

What a unique barn. Hope someone can rescue it from being demolished.

What a shame to tear it down!

Cool photo! Is there more to the barn underground? Hope the developers can see it's unique character and work with it in some way!

Oh, don't let them tear it down! ;-( It's such a unique building. It would indeed be cool if they could keep it and just put something in it. Who needs another boring box shaped shopping center? I hope it's not a Wal-mart!

(The flamingo fence borders the patio and the sidewalk that winds through the canals. I have seen cats there so I guess it could be a catwalk. :-) )

That is a very cool barn - I agree that it should not be torn down! Trader Joe's should definitely package potato chips there!
