For the past seven years I been trying to get a great butterfly photograph. We have a number of Butterfly Bushes in the yard and like the name implies, they do attract butterflies. So I've tried for years to get something respectable.
This is the second time I used the Canon G10 to photograph butterflies, but it's the first time I had some success. I used the camera's macro setting and processed them with ACR.

looks like great success to me ... they are beautiful
i've never been lucky enough to capture butterflies on camera. until a week ago, that is. it was my first attempt... i was fortunate to come upon a little butterfly that was hanging around some wild flowers {pollinating them?? or something. not sure if they do the same as bees.}
anyway, i had always wanted to get some shots of butterflies. and i finally got that chance. and i'm very happy with how some of them turned out. i just need to find some time to get them processed and posted now.
yours are beautiful!!
can't believe how long it's been since i stopped by. i'm not even blog surfing tonight, but i happened to see your post on my dashboard "items" section, and when i saw the butterfly, i had to check it out. how weird that we should both finally get the opportunity to shoot butterflies after wanting to gets some photos of them for quite a while. and how random that it should be within days of each other.
i'll try to get my posted soon.
hope you're well.
It looks like your persistence paid off, Steve! Lovely photos. How do you like the G10? I opted for the s90 because of the size. I needed something I could carry around when I didn't want to drag my DSLR along.
lovely!
pretty.
Wow you can see the fuzz on their bodies - great!
The first butterfly certainly posed for the camera!
Nice look.
