Grey on Grey


There's always this funky light in winter, especially mornings. This was made in mid-morning, on the north shore of Long Island.

Winter reveals all that summer hides.

I like the clarity in the muted setting.
I do like the infrared setting for bw, but my last photo had this grass that was almost glowing white in the mid-day sun so perhaps that's what you're seeing.

Gray has become one of my favorite colors, so many different shades. I think this is really pretty.

Yes, it does. One of the things I particularly like to see revealed is the placement of the birds' nests that were hidden all summer. I try to memorize where they are in case they're re-used the following year and I might catch a glimpse of nestlings a few months down the road.

I love how you manage to capture the subtle variations of light from one season to the next. This is brilliant - makes me wish I could hang out on a walk with you! I might learn something from the experience :)
