The Clouds of Michelanglo

First, I manipulated these three images. I saw these incredible clouds yesterday on my way up island. I pulled over to find a spot where I could photograph them. There were amazing to me, like nothing I've ever seen in my life.
As I was making these photos I knew what I had to do.
The took the title from Refuge of the Roads, by Joni Mitchell's. She sees the clouds as “muscular with gods and sungold.”
I saw them a bit different.
I guess these incredible clouds are responsible for the high winds and rain we are having today. Feels like the wind is gonna rip the house right off the foundation.
Photographed with the Canon 5d mkII and processed as HDR images in Photomatix Pro and ARC.

i've only seen clouds like this one time in my life... about two and a half years ago. i had never seen anything like it. i was driving to work, i was just in awe. the entire sky was filled with these wave-like clouds. i was absolutely amazed. i'm surprised i did not get in an accident while staring at them.

i called my best friend who i was working with at the time and told her to round up everyone in the department to meet me outside and see them. so i got there, and they were all outside on the hill looking up in wonder. it is one of my best memories of working there!

your photos are AWESOME. i so wish i had had a camera with me that day. i'm pretty sure i did not even own one at the time.

These look like graphite renderings. Lovely. There is a gentle movement in each photograph.
